Should Bathroom Sconces Be Up Or Down
The point of bathroom sconces is to light the sides of your face.
Should bathroom sconces be up or down. Ive found many bathroom fixtures can be mounted either facing up or down and so mine are up. My current bathroom has some weirdo basket-like wall sconces with those thin halogen bulbs together with a simple flush-mounted overhead light. Here are the general rules.
If the sconces have shades put the bottom edges of the shades a little below eye level 60 to 68 inches from the floor. Typically wiring is done at the beginning of a remodel when the walls are open or when its okay to cut a some holes in the walls. I like this arrangement pretty well because the wall sconces provide light from in front of me as I stand at the sink but its muted and the overhead light in which I use small wattage bulbs isnt too bright.
They will be patched when the painting is done. In bathrooms mount sconces 36 to 40 inches apart flanking the mirror 18 inches from the sinks center line. When installing sconces on either side of the vanity its best to install bathroom sconces between 60-65 from the floor.
Most Vanity Bath Lights are designed to face up or down. Dont let them mark up your walls in the process of reversing the fixtures later. Baseboard lighting and indirect lighting in cabinets also makes nighttime trips to the bathroom easier and safe.
There are so many different ways to light a bathroom and it really comes down to personal preference. I personally have a thing against looking up into lightbulbs. The tall sconces make my bathroom look like its off scale.
Generally we recommend placing wall sconces near a mirror as task lighting. So lindybarts you can eventually at least get your sconces facing up. Generally we recommend placing wall sconces near a mirror as task lighting.
