Landscape Lighting Low Voltage Wire
Most low-voltage landscape lighting wire comes in two different sizes.
Landscape lighting low voltage wire. Available in 2 Finishes. Kichler Single Light 22 Tall Landscape Path Light - Low Voltage. Low voltage landscape lighting wire or landscape lighting cable as it is often referred as is made of multi-strands of copper wire that are bound together.
To control voltage drop in low-voltage landscape lighting systems there are two things to consider. This is called derating and helps to account for inefficiencies in the transformers. The Portfolio landscape lighting connector allows you to connect a low-voltage lighting fixture to low-voltage cable.
The wire comes in different sizes such as 8 10 12 14 16 and 18. A good rule of thumb for selecting proper wire size is determining your wattage. A lower number means thicker wire and greater capacity to carry the power current for longer distances.
The wire number or wire gauge refers to the diameter of the bundle of strands with the smaller number being a larger. Conductors must be able to be separated without showing copper and must still meet UL minimum wall requirements. 6 rows Landscape lighting cables connect the transformer to the fixtures.

Were as a 120 volt line voltage wire is a single strand wire. We recommend using 102 low voltage wire for all wire runs longer than 50 feet in halogen systems. Any system under 200 watts will be fine using 16 gauge wire.
