These zones take into account windows doors walls ceilings and partitions assessing the level of risk in each zone. There is no zone around a basin basin taps or toilets. The space under a bath is zone 1 but if the space is fully enclosed and cannot be accessed without the use of a tool it is outside the zones.
Installed in this zone must have a minimum rating of IPX7 which is totally immersion proof. There is no zone 3 - this was deleted with the publication of the 17th edition.
